Group Riding Discussion and Practice Event Description
What: Group Riding Discussion and Practice
Date: Saturday, April 12, 2025
Where: Powder Keg Harley-Davidson HOG Room
Time: 10:00 am
Description: The discussion will cover numerous aspects of group riding. Topics will include ride preparation, formation geometries, hand signals, lane change procedures, accident and mechanical breakdown procedures, and more. The discussion is geared towards riders who are new to the chapter. Nonetheless, if a member has ridden with us for a few years but has never sat through a thorough discussion on how we ride as a chapter, that rider will likely get something out of the session, too. Attendess are encouraged to bring all their questions about how and why we do things during a chapter ride.
The discussion is planned to last an hour. Following a short break, the group will attend a ride briefing at 11:15 before heading out on a ride to practice many of the areas covered in the discussion. There will be highway lane changes, one up and two up segments, going through intersections, and more. The ride will last about an hour. A short debrief will follow the ride giving members the chance to ask questions.
Lunch: We will eat lunch at 12:30. Members staying for the Twisties Discussion and Practice will have about a 1.0-hour lunch break. Those members not staying for the Twisties session are still welcome to join us for lunch. Lunch can be Jimmy Johns, something brought from home, or whatever other arrangements people want to make for eating.
Cost: Lunch and gas
*DISCLAIMER* This is not a class or course and there are no instructors. It’s merely chapter members getting together to talk about group riding and then going on a ride.
Closed Event: Chapter activities are conducted primarily for the benefit of H.O.G. Chapter members. Closed Events are those events open to Chapter members and one guest per member. All guests must sign an event release. Be aware, all rides and events are subject to change or cancellation due to weather or other circumstances beyond our control.
